Finishing this dish with lime zest and juice brightens its rich flavors.

The Chimney Smoke Outside Smells Awesome

Jeff took the kids to hike up a mountain today. There are so few sunny warm enough days left to do that. They love the adventure of it all even though they do complain some during. The great thing about a mountain is they have no choice but to keep walking because eventually they have to get down. Keegan said this one had lots of waterfalls. I will start going with them again in the Spring because Harper will be old enough to be backpacked then. He will probably get out in one while snowshoeing this winter because he will 6 months old in December.

Harper and I amused ourselves by going to visit Erika and Sammy for a bit and then meeting Erin and Claire for lunch. Both babies were so great during and gave their moms time to chat and eat. Harper did squawk a bit on the way home and I thought it would go on for all 40 minutes. After five minutes he fell asleep thank goodness. He even tolerated a trip to the grocery store where I winged it because I didn't make a menu for this week. We'll see how that works out. Then he had enough confined time and let me know he expected some freedom when we got home. Poor kid was then completely thrown off by the time change and beyond tired. Jeff and I did tag team parenting to get him calmed down and asleep.

This week Jeff scored a microwave cart to use as a TV stand on Freecycle. So now our elliptical machine has a TV to amuse us while exercising. I still haven't used it. I am sure I can come up with more excuses not to ;) Truth be told in the beginning I won't last long enough on it to need anything lengthy to amuse me anyway. I think I would be more motivated to get moving if I had not lost the pregnancy weight. But now exercising will get me healthier which unfortunately is not as powerful as vanity. Perhaps the peer pressure of telling you guys will get me started? Or knowing that exercising will allow me to eat more of Keegan's Halloween candy?
