Finishing this dish with lime zest and juice brightens its rich flavors.

The Big Day

Jeff dropped Harper off and came back so we could vote together. We walked to the polling place and figured out which line we were supposed to be in to register in our new ward and then voted. The whole thing took about 35 minutes. Keegan came along and was excited about it. I have taken him to vote with me in every election since he was born but this is the first one he seemed to sort of understand. It all started during the primaries where a kid in NH can not ignore the fervor. So now I get to keep myself occupied until it is time to go home and overdose on election day coverage. Ah, the gluttony. I think we're having leftovers and sandwiches so we don't have to miss a thing.

In other news, how come I never get asked to participate in scientific studies involving drinking milkshakes?
Imaging studies uncover risk of weight gain in women with weak 'reward circuitry' In a side note the researcher pictured with the story TOTALLY looks like a psychology researcher. No offense to my friends who are researchers (Holly you've never looked that prim in your life).

You know, when I was in grad school, I participated in a "snacking" study investigating the links between mood and snacking. They induced a negative mood (by having you think of a negative time or event in your life) and then you responded to questions, drank a sweet drink (I can't remember what the active ingredient was - and I believe they alternated between it and a placebo) and then you recorded your mood. It was interesting. Thanks by the way - I like to think that my fellow psych grad students in Chicago were a little bit more hip and less prim!
