Finishing this dish with lime zest and juice brightens its rich flavors.

I had a play date scheduled for today with my old neighbor who just became my neighbor again. But steady rain ruled out our plans for the park. So we regrouped and headed down to a local science museum. I took both boys so Jeff could get projects down around the house. Erika and gang ended up joining us there later. The concept of actually being able to chat with the grownups is lost because the kids were all over the place. Harper was happy to watch everything and intermittently nap. My friend eventually headed home because her son still naps. We stayed an hour longer and then all went out to lunch. We got home around 3pm. Jeff got those blissful five hours. When he apparently made good on his wish to move his desk and computer up into the office next to mine. So here he is less than four feet away. Which he sold me on by saying we could actually be together more this way. Awww. And it does free up space in the playroom.

We are hosting Thanksgiving this year. That means lots of cooking. And an excuse to finish some of the things in the house. Like the dining room and living room. I will be ordering the coffee table tomorrow because they don't carry it in the stores. And we are finally getting the rug we have been drooling over for months. And who knows, maybe we will hang some pictures on the wall too? Most of the rooms are just so close to being done. Or at least being done for now until we save up for more new furniture or in the case of the kitchen a complete remodel. And in the spring when we can have the windows open we will strip the half bath of the weird painting technique in that awful red brown color. I swear it is lizard skin or alligator texture. Horrendous.
