I had to go home at lunch time to meet a technician only to find out they canceled. Why would they think I would get a message on my home answering machine? Anyway while I was home I knocked my cell phone off the desk onto the hardwood floor. It popped open and the battery fell out. I picked it up and matched the battery to the contacts and tried to put the back on. It would not stay on securely and more disturbingly my phone would not turn on. I unsuccessfully tried putting the back on the phone several more times. I faced the inevitable of going to the cell phone store for help. Once at the store I got on the list and proceeded to the service desk. They called the woman in front of me and she explained to them that her phone would turn on but not call anybody. He explained that she had an AT&T phone and she was in a Verizon store. She asked if she had to buy a new phone and he said only if you want to be a Verizon customer. Otherwise she could go to the AT&T store and get a plan with them. I felt embarrassed for her as she walked off. Then they called my name. I explained that I had dropped my phone and what happened afterward. He opened the back of the phone and told me I had the battery in upside down. I felt embarrassed for me as I walked off.
