Suddenly I Am Hungry

Most annoying thing about Freecycle? Waiting for people to pick up who are not on time and have made planning the pickup a total drama for four days. I am giving away a working TV for goodness sake, that's a good find. It's not like it's a bag of packing peanuts.

So while I wait I give you ten things about me related to food or the kitchen:

1. I loathe white bread. Not bread that has to be white like a baguette or sourdough. I am talking about sandwich bread. There is just no reason for it.
2. I have been craving deli meat several items a week since Harper was born. I guess that is because I went ten months without it. Come to think of it I have been drinking alcohol almost every day too.
3. Speaking of deli meat, I love liverwurst. I do try to pace myself because I don't want to get gout or anything. I hate liver in its natural state but pate or puree that puppy and I am in heaven.
4. I am horrible at judging the appropriate size container for leftovers. I never get it right. No sense of relational space or something. But I would rather have the container be too big than too small. Too small is total failure.
5. I am a cooked pudding girl. No instant just mix with milk for me. I like to stand at the stove constantly stirring. And then when you pour into the dishes it makes that layer on top. I love me some pudding scab.
6. The sight of a fully stocked fruit basket makes me giddy. I like it set apart on the counter with all manner of tasty snacks ready for the picking.
7. I have no problem with raw meat. I don't mind touching it, skinning it, deboning it, what have you. Doesn't bother me at all. But I scrub my hands with anti-bacterial soap when I am through.
8. My least favorite cooking task is peeling shrimp before cooking them. I don't mind peel and eat once you're sitting down for the meal. But I hate standing at the sink endlessly peeling raw shrimp. This is made worse by all of the shrimp recipes I keep picking this week.
9. The cooking task I consistently suck at is toasting things. I mean like nuts or seeds for a recipe. No matter how close an eye I keep, I always burn the first batch. With this in mind I buy more walnuts, pecans, etc than the recipe calls for.
10. Finally, no surprise I have kitchen OCD. Organization, germ control, recipe prep, shelf life in the refrigerator. I have it all. Fortunately I have found a treatment plan for this affliction. My husband.

This chick is 48 minutes late. She's not getting my TV.

I have major kitchen OCD along with raw meat OCD. I cannot touch ANY raw meat and have devised a great method for getting chicken ready to freeze individually. I use my sharp knife and a fork and it is never touched by my human hands. I can pick containers to a tee, though. We are opposite on those two points. Gonna try to call you around 2 today, after I get off work.
