"This week your baby weighs almost 2 pounds (like a head of cauliflower) and is about 14.4 inches long with his legs extended. He can now open
and close his eyes, and he sleeps and wakes at regular intervals. He
may suck his fingers, and although his lungs are still immature, they
would be capable of functioning - with assistance - if he were to be
born prematurely. Chalk up any rhythmic movement you may be feeling to
a case of baby hiccups, which may be common from now on. Each episode
usually lasts only a few moments, and isn't bothersome to him, so enjoy
the tickle. With more brain tissue developing, your baby's brain is
very active now."
I can definitely feel his periods of awake and asleep. Whenever he is awake he is moving all over the place. I think he has stretched out because I could feel some tickles under my ribs today. And he has had the hiccups a few times. Tomorrow I drink the glucose and get to the lab in an hour for my blood draw. I also get my iron levels checked. With Keegan I had low iron despite being on the prenatal vitamins and had to take a supplement. I hate those because they make you totally constipated so then you have to take a stool softener too. And on top of all the Tums that is a lot of pills. The nesting instinct has not really kicked in yet. Unless you count helping my friend Andra get her nursery ready. I do want to get the nursery set up but that is more a case of being organized than nesting. We should probably register for the few things we will need. And at some point we will get things especially for him.
Episode in the life of pregnant career woman:
I was away at my conference Monday and as mentioned in an earlier post I took a long nap. You know how sometimes you wake up from a nap and feel out of it for a while? Jeff called so I could say goodnight to Keegan. I told him I had a long nap and was generally tired. And he kept saying I sounded weird and wanted to know if anything else was wrong. I felt badgered so I started crying. Of course he is like, "Why are you crying?" I respond that I am tired and I don't want to be in that hotel and I just want to be home and now he is yelling at me. He says he is not yelling at me (which he wasn't but I was feeling out of sorts). I stop crying and talk to Keegan and ask Jeff to call me back later. He does call me later and asks if I feel better. I feel totally fine then and say that I think I was just hungry. Noting can't be cured by a great room service meal and a nice slice of cheesecake.

Finishing this dish with lime zest and juice brightens its rich flavors.
