Finishing this dish with lime zest and juice brightens its rich flavors.

Something Old, Something New
This weekend was all about Keegan's birthday party.  His birthday is actually Friday but we wanted to have his party when Isabelle would be here.  It was Sunday morning at the NH Audubon Society and the theme was turtles.  I had invited all of his classmates as well as our family and friends.  I was lucky everyone couldn't come because as it was we had 18 children (from 5 years-7 months) and 23 adults.  It was a great time and the kids as well as grownups learned a lot about native species and how animals live in the wild.  After everyone left Keegan got to touch all of the turtles and even a snake.  I love how kids are so open to new experiences.
Because Jeff is Jeff we made the cakes.  We did a pull apart large turtle out of cupcakes and then eight baby turtle cupcakes.  I did buy a separate cake for the grownups that looked like a pond and had "Happy 4th Birthday Keegan" written on it.  All in all we were done decorating the cakes by 9pm the night before.  And we owned almost everything we needed already.  By the time this baby celebrates his birthdays we'll be old pros.  And I have to admit I really enjoy making their cakes each year.
After Keegan's party my parents came back to the house with us for lunch and unwrapping presents.  We also showed them all of the pictures of the house from the home inspection.  Then Keegan went home with them to stay overnight.  Jeff watched the Patriots game and played board games with Isabelle.  I went into work for three hours.  Being there all alone really helped me get a lot accomplished.  I got home right before Jeff did after dropping off Isabelle.  We had dinner and since there wasn't really anything else on we watched the NFC game too.  Proving that even I can tolerate the sound of televised crowd if it means hanging out with my husband.
Today I am meeting my mom and Keegan at my grandparent's place for lunch.  It has kind of become a tradition to go there for lunch on Monday holidays.
I don't remember if I posted but the home inspection went great.  I have lots of pics and sketches and measurements.  Now we need to order furniture and decide on paint colors and schedule any deliveries.  My attorney is working on the lease for our tenants to sign.  Our front hallway is filled with packing boxes and Jeff actually packed one box so far.  It's a start.  We just keep looking at each other and saying "we have an awesome house!"  Excited does not convey how we feel about all the great things happening for our family.
