I was scheduled to go back to work. And when got up at 6:30 and saw the nearly one foot of fresh snow I almost backed out. Instead I went back to sleep for an hour and then went in. I really wanted to get through email and see what else had come up while I was gone. Meanwhile Jeff and the kids went ice skating and they are out snowshoeing now. I just got home. I think they started a trend because I just saw another snowshoer go by. I love that they are out enjoying the season. Good thing because apparently we are getting another storm like this tomorrow. Tonight we will ring in the new year at home. We are introducing the kids to cheese fondue. Cheddar because that is more likely to be popular than traditional Swiss. After they are tucked in we may try to stay up until midnight. This is mine and Jeff's third New Year's Eve together. Definitely more mellow than the first one. Which involved too many appletinis for me and the special moment in a relationship when you throw up in front of guy for the first time. Ugh. So this one will be quiet but special because in 2008 we add to our family.
Tomorrow we head to Erika and Jay's to celebrate the new year with all of our friends in a style that is befitting those with young children. A nice potluck lunch and good company. We'll be bringing Peanut Butter-Toffee Turtle Cookies and Black-Eyed Pea Hummus so we can have good luck in the new year.
