Back Side Of The Third Decade
Today is my birthday.  I was going to post earlier but I had a horrendous day at work.  I wanted to take the day off as my own personal holiday.  I was going to have my hair done maybe do some shopping, run wild.  But an important meeting came up so I canceled all that.  I guess it was for the better anyway because everything is due tomorrow.  I wouldn't have had a fighting chance at making deadlines without working today.  We had plans to go out tonight.  But our new babysitter was sick and just couldn't make it.  Believe me I begged.  We were supposed to go see this singer from NY who is also one of Jeff's friends Amber's roommate.  Her name is Jess Klein and she just happened to be in NH this week.  And only 20 minutes away tonight from where we live.  That part I was really disappointed about.  But as a parent you know nothing is guaranteed, not even a night out on your birthday.  Poor Jeff had plans canceled on his birthday three weeks ago because our old babysitter was sick.  Guess we both get a rain check.  So we went out with Keegan and I got a nice filet.  Which I could not finish because the baby seems to know exactly the right time to make me not so hungry any more.  Our waiter noticed it was my birthday and I begged him not to get the whole singing thing going.  He did quietly bring us a free dessert which Keegan and Jeff ate.  Mostly Keegan because that kid has a spare stomach just for ice cream.  I got a card from each of them.  One for being 3.  And one for being 6.  That's right, together I'm 36.  And I got a beautiful blown glass ornament with two honey bees on it.  And the necklace that I had admired in Burlington in September.  I thought at the time he might have gone back for it but our anniversary came and he had gotten me something else.  He is so good at keeping things secret.  I suck at it.  In fact I beg to tell them.  I love giving people presents too much to hold on.  He also had flowers delivered to my office today.  And my co-workers brought me cake.  All in all a nice celebration.  Oh and speaking of honeybees, Erika donated honeybees in my honor to Heifer International which is just an amazing charity.  I have completed my 36th year and I am onto my 37th.  And I have to say it doesn't bother me at all.  I feel really good about where I am and who I have in my life.  And next year it gets even more exciting with the new addition.
