Finishing this dish with lime zest and juice brightens its rich flavors.

Red, Gold And Green

Saturday Keegan and I went shopping to get him pants. He is long but slim and so they have these awesome elastic waistband with button things. Otherwise that kid would be in highwaters or I'd have to learn to sew. We grabbed those pretty quickly, got my conditioner in a store he declared smelled delicious and even had time for a ride on those coin operated cars. While in H*llmark I asked if they had a section for same sex couples. I had already found a perfectly lovely card but I want retailers to know there is a demand and they should get with the program. Before going down to my parents my mom invited Keegan to stay overnight so we grabbed his stuff. He had several jet ski rides and my high point was taking him out in a kayak for the first time. He asked me how I knew how to work a kayak. I told him that I used to go kayaking and canoeing with his daddy. I cannot describe the feeling of gliding through the water taking me little boy on an adventure under the bridge with his little head in front of me in the kayak. When we got back out on the lake he told me to push the pedals and go faster. I explained the pedals were foot rests and all the power was coming from mommy's arms. Jeff and I spent our free night getting dinner and then going to a movie. I felt like something light so we saw Superbad. Which was pretty crass but very funny. Sunday we slept in to 9am which was lovely. We had showing at 11 (our first second showing in a year) so we ate breakfast out and went grocery shopping. Then Nana brought Keegan back up and I jumped in the car to go applepicking. It's still a little early but we got some nice eating apples and baking apples, a tiny pumpkin, a medium sized pumpin and a mum for the front walkway. The weather was amazing so I also threw in a tractor ride and a picnic lunch.
