Curried Beef Short Ribs

Note: I found this was more realistically four servings.

Finishing this dish with lime zest and juice brightens its rich flavors.

Cheese With That Whine?

Shortly after I woke up this morning I realized it was only Tuesday. Not a good sign for not feeling like the longest week ever. So far my promises to myself of going to bed earlier have not panned out. I need one of those efficiency experts to follow me around and squeeze some more time out of my schedule. More play time, more down time.
Jeff thinks it's weird that I receive a publication called M*rbidity and Mortality Weekly. Which is kind of a depressing title. And is all about what kills people or makes them very ill. So yeah that can be kind of a downer. On that note always wash your hands after handling turtles. Especially for kids who touch them. The salmonella on them can kill you. I know, I read about it.
I will be at Selfish Mom's Club tomorrow night for the first time since April. This is the first year I have had scheduling conflicts. No cooking as we are meeting out at a wine bar. We have a new member too as we lost one during our reshuffle and one who's husband got a new job in Mass.
This just in: The Housing Market Sucks. I know this is no surprise to any of you who are buying or selling. Not only can you not sell but if you trying to buy good luck getting a mortage without serious cash in hand. We have been on the market over ten months. We aren't even looking any more because even though we can get a mortgage we are stuck with mine until someone comes in with an offer. We continue to have sporadic showings and regular open houses. A couple of homes in my neighborhood have sold but been quickly replaced by more people trying to sell. If we don't have a contract by the end of this month we are getting a storage unit so we can at least have more space and more acessibility to the stuff we do need. And we will hang more things on the walls and settle in for the rest of the year. And maybe get a freezer for the garage where we can store more ingredients for meals. End of summer really marks the shopping time for homes in NE. No one wants to move in the cold and snow.
Paying out the nose for my turbo has changed my mind about getting a Volvo as our next car. I just can't see paying that much for maintenance all the time. Especially since a lot of cars now are just as safe as Volvos no matter how much I love the cross country model. So now I will start poking around for non-gas guzzling, good in all weather, fits kids alternatives. And I will continue to try and block out the voice in my head whispering "mini-van." It sounds oddly just like Jeff's voice. Hmmm...
