Summer Lovin'

It is easier to return to work after you've had a great weekend. Friday night I met Jeff on his commute and he took the kids out to eat while I went to Erika's. I got to watch Sammy while they went out for her birthday. It went very well and Sammy did awesome with the handoff and then going to bed. I loved following him around while he pointed things out and chatted away.
Saturday we took the kids to the river jamboree where our racing rubber ducks didn't win us the kayak package but we had fun anyway. The kids played on the giant slide, got their faces painted and danced along with a local children's musician. We headed home afterwards for a nap. Then we went back out to downtown for the multicultural festival. Lots of yummy food, interesting booths, music and kids to run around with. At around 7pm Dan Zanes, or here, who was in town for two benefit concerts stopped by and played three folk songs. I haven't heard a lot of his music but it was really cool to be up that close to him and all of the kids were mesmerized. Then we headed home for the night.
On Sunday we met Erika and Jay and Sammy at the zoo. We went to the smaller zoo since we weren't sure how much the kids would be up for. They loved it and the favorites listed were the jaguar and the bats. We bought a membership so now we can go to both zoos all year for free. We topped off the day with ice cream in Portsmouth, dropped off Isabelle and then went by the warehouse club. We bought a two room tent for our trip at the end of July. I am thinking there is no way Keegan will sleep alone in his own tent. So this way we'll ease him into it without being worried about him unzipping the tent and wandering off without us knowing. And the countdown to vacation is on, only five more days to the beach. :)
