Finishing this dish with lime zest and juice brightens its rich flavors.

Midweek, Midnight Sun

We arrived back in Anchorage last night. Many wonderful things from the previous days to write about about but it will have to wait until later. I spent the day at my conference and Jeff took the rental car down to Seward to see the Gulf of Alaska, glaciers, etc. He is on his way back now to meet me for dinner. I spoke with Keegan earlier and he appears to be doing just fine with Nana. My mom sounds perky and not too worn down. It is so great to have no worries while I am gone because she is keeping his routine and he likes helping her out with the dogs and finding things she needs.
I feel like we have been here for so long even though it has only been since Friday night. It must be what happens when you pack a ton into your days. It is four hours earlier here. That was an adjustment but I have gotten used to it. It is the almost constant sunlight that gets to me. The sun sets around 11pm and comes back around 5:30 so you go to sleep in the light and wake up in it. Up north it sets even later and never really gets very dark. The longest day here isn't until June but they already feel too long for me. It has been eight years since I was here and I had forgotten how beautiful it is. I love NE but this is on a whole other level and so big. Before I always thought I would be lonely living here and I still do. Jeff is really enjoying himself too. He is wildlife and glacier crazy.
