We all off today but trapped in the house by a ice storm. And Jeff is still recovering from the plague I had a few weeks ago. Thankfully my brother Bret and his family sent Isabelle a giant tub of cray*la art supplies for Christmas. That filled up just the right amount of time today.
Saturday night we went out for my grandma's 92nd birthday. I had to cancel the babysitter because Jeff was too sick to join us. So I went without him and even though the food was excellent again, I missed his company. When passing out the wine glasses the waiter asked me if I was 21. When I shared this with Erika we both agreed that although I look young, I don't look that young. Perhaps he was angling for a bigger tip. This time I had:
Citrus Poached Shrimp
French Cocktail Sauce
Trio of Long Island Duck
Pan Seared Breast, Confit of Leg & Foie Gras Velouté
with Maple Whipped Sweet Potatoes and Spinach
Pineapple Upside Down Cake
with Whipped Cream and Bourbon Caramel Sauce
On Sunday we had an indoor playground playdate in the afternoon. It was the perfect place to set two very active boys free. I got to visit with my friend, use a digger to move rocks and crawl through tunnels. Even though Jeff was lacking in appetite I stil cooked this week. He had lots of plain bagels but I ate well. Recipes later.

Now, I don't remember the Pineapple Upside Down Cake on the menu...although I was blinded by the fruit and mousse filled chocolate box. LOL Ice is so bad I can not even walk on the grass! Two hour delay today though.
Pineapple Upside Down Cake is my *favorite* cake... I have it every year for my birthday. I should have it more often. :)
Dinner sounds fabulous. Did you know that Foie Gras is outlawed in Chicago?
