Wind 'N Go

It was a good holiday weekend. Nice and long because it started Friday afternoon. That night we made a gingerbread house with the kids from the kit the Reilly's gave them. Jeff and I finished the icing after they went to bed. We also recorded them singing Christmas songs. Luckily technology is better than the reel to reel tape recorder my brothers and I used. Saturday night Jeff and I wrapped gifts and watched Sound of Music (see his post). For Christmas Eve we went to my parents for dinner and the kids unwrapped one gift. We car toured all the local neighborhoods that have ridiculous light displays and headed home. That night we were up late (as parents often are) doing wrapping and assembly. I wish Santa did his own assembly. The kids slept in a little and then we got them downstairs to see all of the presents. Later my parents and grandparents came over for breakfast and we exchanged gifts. Jeff had told me not to be silly with buying him presents but I will tell you my husband absolutely spoiled me this year. One of the hits with the kids was something Jeff made fun of me for but they loved the windup flashlights. It was such a wonderful day because of Jeff, two healthy happy kids, my family to include my grandparents in their 90s and all the holiday cards from our friends and family displayed throughout the house. Jeff went to drop off Isabelle, Keegan took a miracle long nap and then called Tom's parents for Christmas and his Aunt BJ (Barb) too and invited her over to house. Hopefully she'll take him up on the offer for his birthday next month. Last night we made one more loaf of sour cream raspberry swirl bread and one with apricot and almonds just to mix it up a little (they're in the freezer for later). Keegan made eggs in his kitchen. He doesn't eat many vegetables but he sure loves to pretend to cook them. And he does like hummus and exotic cheeses (last night it was cranberry stilton). This morning Jeff left for work early and Keegan and I decided to sleep in. He is at school now and I'm here at work. Now it is just coming down from the sugar high and getting through the short week.
