Children and the Flu Vaccine - November 6
CDC recommends that healthy children aged 6 months up through their 5th birthday, their close contacts (people who live with them), and out-of-home caregivers (nannies, daycare providers, etc.) should get a flu vaccine. This expands last yearÂ’s recommendation to now include vaccination for children 2 years old up to their 5th birthday this flu season.
I didn't know the guidelines had changed for this year and I figured that we had aged out. I just called and got Keegan an appointment to get his.

Yeah, apparently this year the regs changed. Charlotte's getting hers on Saturday morning (well, the first 1/2. 2nd half to follow). I got mine last week.
Thanks for posting this. I did not know the guidelines had been changed either. My daughter has to get one due to ashtma hasn't had hers yet (I'm so bad) but I guess I need to set us all up for shots. I was planning to have my almost three year old get one anyway. It's scary when you hear on the news children coming down with the flu. Again thanks for posting this. I'm calling right now for appointments.
Colin got his at his 12 month checkup (1/2 - he gets the other half in a month). I got mine the next day (the day I flew in for the wedding party). I was sort of wondering about side effects, etc. but his best daycare buddy just spent a week in the hospital with pneumonia (she's 16 months old and was scheduled to get her flu shot the week she went into the hospital!) - so I'm glad we have ours now.
Rachel got her shot on 10/30-the first day it was made available at her doc's office. After her coming down with the flu and being hospitalized at 3.5 months old, we don't mess around.
Hi Alisa,
Hope you request a Thimerosal-free vaccine...
May you all stay healthy!
