The Captain & Her

I did not bother to unpack my toiletry bag from this weekend. I have to pack it right back up again tomorrow night. At the crack of dawn on Friday I leave for Louisiana. Not for business but for fun. That's right fun in the hottest, moistest place I have ever been. Only a wedding would get me to Shreveport in August. Not just any wedding but a wedding a long time coming that can not be missed. I have all of my outfits planned out and we have all of the watering holes scoped for each meal and in between. It will be just like college except now I have money, a career and an ex-husband. So not like college at all. But if there was time when I needed my girls this is it. Not in the way I needed them last year when I was newly separated. Not in the way I needed them earlier this year when I was overworked and recovering from strep. But in a "my life is kicking ass, I feel awesome and I want you to know how much I love you" way. I harbor no illusions about being able to keep up with the non-parents in the group but I still plan on giving it my best effort. At the request of the bride we're wearing shades of green of our choosing. I got gorgeous sparkly ivory silk slip-ons to go with this number. Don't you love a trip where you are totally looking forward to what you are going to wear as well the people you are going to see? I have only felt this way since losing weight the past year. Tomorrow after work I am getting a trim and my highlights freshened up and then it's home to pack and bed early. And one more thing, it's a military wedding. They are just the best because of the dress uniform. It's so "Officer & a Gentleman."
