Despite the constant rain a truly great weekend. We decided to go inexpensive and easy with food and also try to use stuff up. Friday night we had gorgonzola and walnut ravioli with brown sugar and butter sauce and salads topped with gorgonzola and walnuts. I like to really drive a theme home. That night we watched High School Musical which was lame but worth it for the laughs. Saturday after gymnastics I dropped Keegan with Tom. We had arranged an earlier time because Keegan had a birthday party the next morning. So with free time with went shopping and scored all of the things we hoped. Birthday gift, shoes for Keegan, summer tops and wedding flip flops for me, wedding outfit for Jeff. Now I just need to find a wedding dress. After that we headed to the salon where I had a pedicure appointment and as a surprise I made one for Jeff too. Yes he wanted me not to tell you. But if I did, to make sure you knew it was a gentlemen's pedicure and there were other very manly men having spa services too. It was nice to see him pampered and he couldn't believe an hour and fifteen minutes went by so fast. It was so nice to sit side by side and relax, While my polish was drying (he was merely buffed) we shared a roman lounge chair. Now he'll never ask me why I spend so much time at the salon.
Later we went home to admire our feet and made shrimp tacos for dinner. It is a recipe I invented with my friend Lara last summer and have made many times since. This time we did it without sour cream and added avocado slices as a topping. Then we went to the movies with what looked like the entire rest of the town because of the rain. We saw The Breakup despite the bad reviews. I liked it. I may have been the only person who cried during it. That's a whole different story.
This morning we got up and Jeff made breakfast burritos to go and we went to bring Keegan to the party. On the way to find a parking spot we ran into three other people I know. And I realized that I have become one of those suburban moms with all the mom friends who we keep intersecting with at all of the various activities. And I realized I love that. I love the whole picket fence, family time, playing with kids, loving my STBH dream of it. Thankfully the play time had Keegan napping like log and we dozed off on the couch ourselves. We took a walk because bringing the bike has started resulting in me pushing an empty bike while Keegan walks along side. He'll look at me and say, "I gotta run!" Who am I to slow him down? And the rain had finally stopped and the fresh air is so good. We had cheese and crackers while Keegan had pasta. He had some crackers with spreadable herbed cheese and then wanted to try something else. So he learned to say cranberry chevre and eat it too. Jeff is probably halfway home by now. The good thing about being so busy at work is that the time flies. Plus I get to see him a bonus day this week on Wednesday.

PS If you are a cheese fan get yourself some Fromage d'Affinois. It is cheap and buttery delicious (tastes like a triple cream but actually isn't).
