I arrived late Friday night. The plane was delayed so I didn't get home until after 2am. Thankfully Jeff was here waiting. Even though we don't see each other during the week anyway we always miss each other more when I travel. I ended up canceling gymnastics because I was a wreck. I picked Keegan up later and we went for a nature walk down by the still swollen river. We had a recipe planned for dinner but we had ate cheese and crackers and then cream puffs and fresh pineapple instead. Keegan did not sleep well and this morning came way too early with me trying to convince him to go back to sleep curled up with me. We met Kara and Olivia down at a children's play place in Mass. for some good times. Jeff ended up inside the play structure with Keegan and rescued another little girl who was stuck inside. Lunch was pizza and loud because we had two hungry, tired kids. We said goodbye and headed home. Keegan fell asleep immediately. I tried to get him to continue sleeping once we got home because it had only been an hour but even curling up with him didn't do the trick. I hate knowing his tough transitions only come after I have been away on business. I need to figure out a better way for both of us. Jeff and I made Angel Hair Pasta Delight while Keegan continued his uninterrupted spree of yogurt cheerios his new favorite cereal. Bathtime went well and bedtime too until he woke up crying and then let himself out of his door. So that dreaded day has finally come. The addition to his already crowded bed of the piggy bank and stuffed rooster helped him settle in. Jeff stayed later than he should but we have more and more trouble saying goodbye these days. That doesn't get easier with time or the promise of a lifetime together.
Edited: I forgot to say that Jeff made little signs for when I arrived home Friday night. The first set of steps spelled, I love you." And the second set steps spelled, "You're almost there, one more step."
