In Which I Show My Political Side

"America is addicted to oil," Bush said.

Duh. I repeat, duh.

There are two reasons that I did not watch the State of the Union speech last night.

1. The entire text of the speech is released ahead of time. Why wouldn't you just read it quietly to yourself? This way you could avoid having to listen through 58 interruptions for applause (the official count).

2. I can hear valuable snippets on NPR as drive back down from the mountains this afternoon. It comes complete with actual facts by people who are actually educated about these topics. Maybe the concept of where we get our oil from will eventually lead people to look at Africa. We get oil from there but yet we turn a blind eye to the atrocities perpetrated there on a daily basis. They also had a piece about a group in NOLA who watched the speech looking for news of help for that region. One member of that group changed in the middle of the speech and came out with a t-shirt saying, "Forget about Fallujah what about New Orleans?"

I was listening to the same thing on NPR as I drove back from my lunch trip to Colin's daycare. And evidently, 58 staged pauses for applause was LOWER than his norm! I have N.O. pictures to send (from my dad's visit this past weekend). Also, I posted a story on Erika's fictional memory post that you might find entertaining.
