I got the good news today that Keegan is going to be moved up to the next classroom next week. This is perfect timing because I was almost going to have to write one of my infamous letters. So since he will be spending more time with kids who are learning to use the potty we'd better get cracking here. I am not going to pressure him but I would like to at least make it available for him here and at his dad's. So my beloved breeders I need some help. What kind of potty have you used with great success and why? What kind would you stay away from? Should I have one on each floor or just keep it downstairs where we spend the most time and then move it up at bedtime? That's all I want to know for now. I will solicit more advice in the coming months as we see how it goes. Much love and thanks.

Magdalena likes her little bjorn potty. Perfect size, nice and portable, easy to clean, and cheap enough to keep multiple ones.
I thought I'd like her to just use the regular potty with the smaller seat thing but it doesn't work. She needs her feet on the ground to get "business done".
M can pee and poo in the potty when she is completely naked. She can also tell me if she pooped or when she needs to pee and such. She's 100% accident free naked, but she can't tell the difference between diapers and panties. So we're getting here. I think ideally summer is best for PT'ing, but I'm not holding my breath for this summer with another babe making her entrance.
Scottie's been using the big potty 99% of the time for the past week and he won't use the little one anymore. He never really liked it so I wouldn't push Keegan to go on the little one. Maybe give him the choice of either? We used the kind that has a lid and is a stepstool also which comes handy when they want to sit on the big potty.
Yay Keegan on the class change and potty potential! We were running early this morning, too (only because Colin got my cold and was half-awake, half-asleep and snuffling from 3:30 to 5:30, when it was time to get up). I got to make a whole wheat egg mc muffin AND take advantage of $2 any-size lattes at the local coffe place! (Decaf, of course.) Hope your black cloud has moved on today!
When gearing up to potty train my son, I made a day of it. We ventured into T*rget and he got to select his potty,we also picked out a step stool and a potty "ring" for the adult toilet, had lunch out and then set up the potties together.
I know nothing about boy potty training so I don't know at what age this idea is for but...
take a diving ring and place it in the (big) toliet and tell him to aim into the circle, its too big to go down when it flushes. I also heard of using fruit loops.
Just some ideas I have heard.
lol
As I am not a breeder (though I do hope some day to join your ranks), I don't have any experience with this sort of thing. But I did see a Dr. Phil where he "promised" a method to get you to potty train your kid in one day ... it involved a wetsy betsy doll and a "potty party" at the end. I'm a little fuzzy otherwise ... probably on the web somewhere though! Don't know if that was helpfu or not.
We're not there yet, but I've read and heard some good advice from a number of sources (friends, books, parenting shows):
-keep it as consistent as possible. If Keegan is going to be expected to use the regular toilet at daycare (eventually), then maybe get him one of those rings that attaches to the toilet. Get him 3...one for your house, one for his dad's, and one to keep at daycare. 3 of the exact same ones. We had a parent who did that at Rachel's daycare and they were great about keeping his potty ring aside for just his use. They also supported the parents in the rewarding of going potty (whatever little treat he got at home for going potty, they gave him when he went at daycare).
Fruit Loops in the toilet help with the aiming if you decide to teach him to stand to pee from the start...some parents work on sitting first and then work their way up to standing.
I also read somewhere that you shouldn't flush your kid's BM's in front of them...in their minds, their poop is a part of them, and it might freak them out to see it swirling down the drain (that's one psychologist's theory-which sorta makes sense to me and sorta cracks me up at the same time).
Let him experience potty time whenever you can...Rachel ALWAYS follows me into the potty when I go in there...she squats down like she's pretending to sit.
I saw the thing on Dr. Phil with the potty party and the doll...I don't remember the whole thing but I'm sure if you went onto his site you might find it in the archives...I saw the episode and I was really impressed with how it worked.
