Practically Perfect

I had such a good weekend. On Friday Jeff came over and after feeding Keegan and putting him to bed we started prepping some of the food for Saturday night's dinner party. Saturday we got up and did some more prep and got Keegan ready. We took him to a Halloween party with all of the original members of my new mom's group. The house was filled with toddlers chasing each other dressed as cows, pigs, dragons, elmo, cowboys, pumpkins, tigger and butterflies. We were actually able to herd them around and get a group picture. I'm sure out of all of them there must be one good one. Keegan wasn't able to nap long because he was all hyped up and had eaten all kinds of goodies. Jeff and I did accomplish some more of the food prep while he was resting and later on playing. We dropped him at his dad's and headed down to Erika and Jay's.
We cooked the rest of the meal there and having done the prep beforehand it was really easy and I didn't spend the whole evening in the kitchen. Besides I love to cook for people so it never feels like work. I'm not going to lie though, the quality of Jeff's co-chefing was directly proportional to the amount of beer he and the boys had consumed over the course of the night. The menu was:
Pear & Brie Quesadillas w/ Honey-Lime Dipping Sauce
Butternut Squash Soup w/Toasted Walnuts
Autumn Apple, Pear, Grape Salad w/Cheddar & Toasted Pecans
Honey-Hoisin Pork Tenderloin
Brennan's Original Bananas Foster

All but dessert were Cooking Light recipes. If you want any of them drop me a line. There was a serious honey, nuts, cheese and pear theme. We had a lively group as always and what I hope was a relaxing fun time for all because Erin, Aaron, Sue and Reilly deserve it.
Sunday we had lunch with my parents and did some shoe shopping. Not only does Jeff not mind shopping but he actually has an opinion and good taste. And each time we've been shoe shopping together he has managed to find something for himself too. On the way home we picked up Keegan and after feeding him we made shrimp tacos for ourselves. Later on Jeff headed back to Maine. I didn't envy him that three hour drive in the rain. But let me tell you, that man sure knows how to pitch woo. Since the beginning of our relationship he has been writing me love notes. He either mails them to me or hides them in my house. He'll leave and then text message me with a clue. But life has been so crazy I hadn't gotten one in a while. So last night after he had been gone over an hour I got a text. I pulled apart the couch and found my love note tucked under the last cushion. So of course I called him and we talked for the last hour and a half of his drive home. Sigh.....
Today I am wearing one of my new pairs of shoes!

Awww, isn't that sweet! And, you were able to make the ride home a little shorter for him, I'm sure. Love the new shoes. Started drooling over the bananas foster - haven't had those in ages - and for some reason lately the baby has been all about apple cider and cooked bananas (not together). I've been making oatmeal for breakfast and putting in sliced bananas (or ordering banana pancakes at breakfast!) Patrick thinks it's disgusting.

I was just remarking to my mom that Aaron sure drank a lot of beer Saturday night! Boys...
