Just A Fool In Love

So here's my confession.
Jeff makes me sing. No, literally. I am not a sing in public kind of gal. Except for with Keegan because really you can do anything off the wall in the presence of children and it seems exceptable. (ie. talking to him in the grocery store as though he can hold a conversation, asking him what he thinks of news stories and warning him of future talks we are going to have on the issues of safe sex, religion and politics)
Because we spend so much time apart, Jeff and I have a lot of phone conversations. Long phone conversations. By the end of them I'm pretty pliable. So that's how I find myself singing solo or duets with him. Fortunately he has a great voice. Our favorite duet? Dolly and Kenny. You can see the lyrics down below or just listen for yourself off of his jukebox.

Baby, when I met you there was peace unknown
I set out to get you with a fine tooth comb
I was soft inside, there was somethin' going on

You do something to me that I can't explain
Hold me closer and I feel no pain
Every beat of my heart
We got somethin' goin' on

Tender love is blind
It requires a dedication
All this love we feel
Needs no conversation
We ride it together, ah-ah
Makin' love with each other, ah-ah

Islands in the stream
That is what we are
No one in-between
How can we be wrong
Sail away with me to another world
And we rely on each other, ah-ah
From one lover to another, ah-ah

I can't live without you if the love was gone
Everything is nothin' if you got no one
And you did walk in tonight
Slowly loosen' sight of the real thing

But that won't happen to us and we got no doubt
Too deep in love and we got no way out
And the message is clear
This could be the year for the real thing

No more will you cry
Baby, I will hurt you never
We start and end as one, in love forever
We can ride it together, ah-ah
Makin' love with each other, ah-ah

Islands in the stream
That is what we are
No one in-between
How can we be wrong
Sail away with me to another world
And we rely on each other, ah-ah
From one lover to another, ah-ah

Sail away
Oh, come sail away with me

Islands in the stream
That is what we are
No one in-between
How can we be wrong
Sail away with me to another world
And we rely on each other, ah-ah
From one lover to another, ah-ah

Islands in the stream
That is what we are
No one in-between
How can we be wrong
Sail away with me to another world
And we rely on each other, ah-ah
From one lover to another, ah-ah

This made me giddy to read. I so could not sing that song in the presence of another human being over the age of 5. You must be in luuurve!

HA! I have that song on my iPod, I love it! It came on while we drove to the Cape this weekend and my classic rock loving husband looked on horrified as I sang along. Loudly.

*laughing* Okay - that just made my afternoon - to mentally imagine you singing Islands in the Stream, especially the "ah-ha-ha-ha" part! Darnit, I think I just peed a little. (I guess karma's a b*tch). And I wasn't laughing AT you - just that you would be so happy that you would sing made me smile. (Besides, Darwin always used to say to me when I sang in the car, "Who sings this Holly? Okay, let's let THEM sing it!"

OK, yes, it's official...you are nuts! LMAO! My husband and I sing "Can't Touch This". But I freely admit we are nuts! LOL

You know that support I had for you and Jeff?

Yeah, that's totally gone now. ;)

Can't you find a Tom Jones song to sing instead? Robert Goulet? Barry Manilow? ANYTHING?

Shared by Z. Hendirez at October 5, 2005 8:32 PM

Now Barry Manilow I can do. We'll have to work on expanding Alisa's repertoire now.

Shared by Druzba at October 6, 2005 6:51 AM

Druzba, however, cannot sing "Tiny Dancer"...

...but, neither can I for that matter...

...between him singing "lay me down in sheets of leather" and me singing "hold me closer Tony Danza"...we get the party...ended...
