In The Air

Nice weather makes me want to escape from the house!
Yesterday I took Keegan down to meet up with Erika. We went by the teen center where we used to work. They were having a rally to kick off their campaign to get a new building. I loved seeing the kids and staff again. Of course I also loved showing off Keegan. He was extremely tolerant of being passed around and cuddled.
It is amazing that a place I used to feel so completely at home now feels strange. It's like not being in on the secret anymore, standing outside what used to be family. The thing is I can't have it both ways. I can't spare myself the stress, emotions and negatives and still ask for the rewards. Oh, but I miss those kids. It reinforced that when I go back to work and really need to be with teens. And those sweeties wanted to see Keegan because of how they felt about me. What we meant to eachother once upon a time when I was privileged enough to be allowed into their lives.
Today I took Keegan on a walk. It was so hot one of us went without pants. I'll let you guess. I had my pedometer on because I need that kind of incentive to get moving. I saw two different places where you should be doing 10,000 steps each day. If you do 20,000 you can pretty much eat whatever you want. I went 1.5 miles for thirty minutes pushing his highness. Keegan fell asleep about ten minutes into the walk. That would be the only nap all day. Then he woke up when I went to check on the bees. Which is why I haven't been able to do much yet. He has impeccable timing. I did get to put out some of my lawn decorations. Which includes a new wooden spinning bee that Erika gave me yesterday. I have decided that I want to collect wooden bee stakes. It should be fun to see how many variations I can find. I only have two and a bee whirly-gig so there is plenty of room.

PS Pedometer is reading 4750 steps for the day.

Edited: I went 5500 for the day. Shows me that 10,000 is possible.
