Last night I thought I was in pretty good shape for getting some sleep. I woke up at my usual intervals to pee. But I also kept popping T*ums and my hips weren't as stiff. Then at 6:45 am I woke up to the neighbor's dog barking. Not a petite little yip, but a full bodied large labrador bark. It was constant. I actually worried that the dog might be getting a sore throat. The barking would not stop. By 7:15 when Tom left I had him turn on MTV to try and drown it out. What was the first video? Triumph The Insult Comic Dog. Yeah, his video has barking in it too.
I laid there for another hour wondering how people could be that inconsiderate. I think she is a bus driver so then I figured she was gone and I have to hear the barking until she returned from her route. I got up and brought the phone and police non-emergency number to my nightstand. But I didn't want to be that person. The cranky neighbor who summons the police at every inconvenience. So my plan is to wait until this evening and talk to my next door neighbor. She knows the dog people and I'm going to ask her to talk to them. I know ever since she mentioned my dogs barking late at night we've made a conscience effort to bring them in quickly.
I finally fell back to sleep but I don't know if he stopped barking or if sheer exhaustion kicked in. I woke up at 12:45. Which sucks because half the day is gone but I really need to get over this cold. I had also planned on going to the teen center for Erika's last day but I'm just not going to make it. But then again she doesn't sound so good herself.

Who Let The Dog Out?

I hope you (and Erika) both feel better soon.
As for the dog situation...
I'm sitting here listening to a dog barking-it's been barking since noon, and it's almost 3. Not sure if it's the same dog that woke me up this morning, and my husband yesterday morning-we're surrounded by dog owners. And not being dog owners ourselves (we do like dogs, but can't have them in the place we're renting-and at this point we're not all that interested in having a pet of any kind (we figure that when we have kids, they'll beg us for a pet and then we'll deal with it-we have a low threshold for barking dogs at 5 am.
You're being more than fair by talking to your other neighbor. Maybe the dog owners don't realize that the dog is going bonkers while they are gone. And you've been considerate of the other people you reside near by bringing your dogs in quickly at the first sign of barking.
Feel better and hope the dog issue resolves itself soon!
