« 30 Weeks | Main | End Of The Year »

November Already?

I am on a roll with good weekends. We finaly got two sunny days in a row and day temps in the 50s. Trying to soak up all the natural Vitamin D I can as I hear it prevents the winter blues.
Tom & I picked out our tree on Sat. afternoon. We tagged her and will go back and cut her down in a few weeks. I just didn't think I'd have the energy later to tromp around all the trees like we usually do. There were several tagged all over so people must have the same idea. Tom is a sucker for blue spruce but they are usually pretty fat. We picked a dense tree with a more reasonable circumference that should more condusive to actually fitting in the livingroom.
Then we did yardwork; raking leaves, prepping the garden for next year, putting away the patio furniture and finally covering the pool. Our neighbors waved from their yard and then came over to meet our dogs. (Put a face with the annoying barking I suspect.) Then she invited me in for hot chocolate and sent her fiance to help Tom with the pool cover. Gotta love the way she thinks.
Today I booked time with the busy Miss Erika for some girl stuff. Nothing too fancy, just to drag her away from her renovations and get some uninterrupted time to chat. We got spoiled when we worked together and could keep up on a daily basis. And now that she has moved her commute time only gives us five minutes to talk instead of the previous 45 minutes. The cutest part is how she took care of me. Sending me to get a table while she filled our drinks and carried the order. Or offering to drop me at the curb while she completed the uneviable task of finding parking. Too sweet.
And darned if she didn't show me the location of a Tr*ader Joe's that I had no idea existed. I left with a key lime pie and a bag of potstickers (cravings, much?) I'm sure you can guess what I had for dinner. Although knowing I didn't need an entire pie, I dropped half of it off at my parents' on the way home.
I am finally excepting the fact that the "Holiday Season" is indeed upon us. I'm kind of itching to get some presents purchased and wrapped, and to filling the yard with lights. Poor Tom will be spending his quality time in the attic or up a ladder. Oh joy.
