Movement

I went down to Lowell today to the teen center for the first time in a month. I had wanted to rejoin creative writing class but it conflicts with our childbirth classes. I usually pop in to try and coax Erika out to lunch. However this occasion was much more pressing.
Dirk came into today as a surprise and for one day only. (And oh by the way if you haven't been over to his site to read his poetry, you are missing out.) He left a teasing message on my machine asking if I'd come down if I was still mobile. What am a freighter? Do I now have to travel with little tugboats to help guide me around? Hey buddy, don't mess with a pregnant woman. I'll snap you like a twig.
It was good to see him and hear his plans (or lack there of) for the coming months. Ah to be young, footloose and fancy-free. What the heck does that mean? I should think you'd want plenty of fancy. But I digress.
It was also great to see the teens many of whom I hadn't seen since I started showing. They fauned all over my belly and asked about the baby. They exclaimed at how good and glowy pregnant I look. Of course I lapped it all up. And then sternly reminded them that pregnancy is wonderful when you are mature enough to handle the responsibility. It was worth it to see the eye rolling that assured me that nothing has changed. Love those teens. Absolutely going to find a way to get back working in some capacity after Peanut makes his arrival. There are tons of kids out there that need help and support. Gosh darn it I'm gonna track them down and make them let me help them.
