Finishing this dish with lime zest and juice brightens its rich flavors.

Change In My Pocket

This girlie is back from Niagara Falls. We had a great, albeit whirlwind, of a weekend. I have pics but not downloaded yet. Let me briefly summarize:

Whirlpool Park, Maid of the Mist, Goat island, Erie Canal Cruise, Canada, IMAX Movie, Skylon Tower, Spanish Aero Car (I stayed on solid ground with Barb), Floral Clock, Seneca Niagara Casino Buffet & Slots.

After gorging on seafood at the casino buffet I decided to use my $10 I allotted for gambling. The key here is that generally I am not a lucky person when it comes to gambling. Which is why I never get scratch tickets, raffle tickets, etc. Tom & I were seated side by side at the "old school" quarter slots (the ones that still have wheels that turn instead of computer simulation). He had won $25 before dinner. I stuffed my ten dollar bill in and prepared to watch it disappear. After several minutes I won $45. I cashed out and got a ticket for $34 and the rest came in quarters. I played the quarters and borrowed from Tom until I ran out. But not before I won $60. I cashed out a $50 ticket and played the rest. We didn't want to budge and ended up missing the hotel shuttle. Barb and Loretta came and picked us up in the van. Even though I only won $84 I was super excited! Tom and I split it in half. At one point I almost won 8,000 quarters. I probably would have peed myself and then fainted. Judging by my average it will probably be another seven years before I go into a casino again.
