Turn Out The Lights

Well the gig is up. Last year when we moved we got a whole new electric company even though we moved inside the same town. We noticed our bills were really low. I figured it was because it was a co-op and all customers are members entitled to special privileges. Month after month we faithfully paid our pittance. Even through the winter the bill hardly doubled. So the other day I open this month's bill and inside is a hand-written note, "We replaced your meter because it was faulty, we will not back charge you for previous months." I looked at the new total, about $85 more than we'd ever paid before. Which means for 14 months we have saved around $1,200 before it caught up to us. As Tom said, " We had a good run." When do those errors ever work in our favor? I can't wait to see next month's bill as our window a/c units have been cranking non-stop for the past two weeks. I left the South to escape humidity but it seems to have tracked us down.
