Finishing this dish with lime zest and juice brightens its rich flavors.

Good Food, Good Friends

I had such an awesome weekend. The weather reports had said rain the whole time but it was sunny and warm. Saturday I took Angie to Vermont to show her some more of why I love New England. We started out at Simon Pearce in Quechee. Lunch was sitting above the waterfall in their restaurant. We both had the Vermont Cheddar Soup and Lo Mein Salad w/Shitake Mushrooms and Cashews. Then we browsed and watched the crafts being made.

The glass.

All beautiful but definitely not an impulse buy. This location has factory seconds if you want to get the pieces at a more reasonable price.

And for Margie.
Those $4 faux ice cubes.

Then we went to Baker's heaven the King Arthur Flour Company store and education center. Where Angie bought all kinds of good stuff and finally explained some of those weird cooking utensils I had always been curious about. She has vowed to come back up this summer to take some baking classes. I, in turn, finally got a popover pan to go with the recipe I have been wanting to try.

The it was off to Woodstock to poke around the shops and galleries. This place has everything. I made sure to load Angie up with cheese and maple products to bring home as gifts. It's like a requirement before they let you out of the state. A wonderful day was finished off with dinner here and we walked right into jazz night without even knowing it. Filled our bellies with great steak, a nice little Shiraz and shared dessert. Then a side trip to the airport. My parents returned from their vacation in St. Criox all brown and happy. Today I took Angie to my stomping rounds in Lowell and we had lunch at my favorite Vietnamese restaraunt. Then I hugged her curbside and sent her along. The only legacy left is the box of stuff I am shipping to her tomorrow. Her poor little suitcase just couldn't take it. All in all a lovely, lovely time!
