Rain, rain, cold. It hasn't been a good week to be a bee. The girls are all out today and loving the sun and warmth. Tom has been trying to help me work my smoker but still no luck. Just as we get it going, it goes out. Or there are just flames shooting out, no smoke. I haven't really needed it yet. But for me right now it is more of a comfort tool. The premise being that a few puffs of cool smoke will calm the bees if I need to.
I was able to pull out the queen cage and it was empty. So I hope that means she is moseying around laying eggs. They have also been sucking down the sugar syrup and I think that is a good sign too. I feel so totally clueless at times. Maybe I will break down and call my bee mentor later. Just to touch base.
