I was browsing through Kristine's archives and found this post from exactly 2 years ago. I just had to look up my name to see if it is as unusual as it feels. I came in at 603rd most popular. Looking for something a little more uncommon? How about Saturnina at 3934th? Can you believe Jeffrey as a girl's name at 3643rd? Or Dimple at 3040th? Those parents must have looked at the newborn and gone with what they saw first. Based on what I read it's pretty difficult to be totally original, there are some weird ones out there. Makes me feel better about how people butcher my name. Say it with me. (Uh-lee-suh)

Alisa. 37. New Hampshire. Married for almost three years to this wonderful, funny, smart guy. Previously married. Went through in-vitro fertilization to have my five year old magical son Keegan. Stepmother to the charming Isabelle (6). Gushingly in love with our baby boy Harper(1). Policy Wonk and dreaded bureaucrat. Lover of fine cuisine, honeybees, truly romantic moments and the underdog.

Curried Beef Short Ribs
Note: I found this was more realistically four servings.
Finishing this dish with lime zest and juice brightens its rich flavors.
Yield 6 servings (serving size: about 3 ounces ribs, 2/3 cup rice, and about 2 1/2 tablespoons sauce)
2 teaspoons canola oil

I knew a girl named Dimple... I want to say she was Pakistani, though I can't say whether or not it's a Pakistani name. :-)
My name isn't even on the list (Not that I'm surprised by that...) I always think that one day I am going to find it at least ON the list, or in a book or something. :)
There's something pretty groovy about having a rare name tho... I've never personally met another Anathea... but I do hear that they exist and aren't TOTALLY mythical! (Thank goodness!!)
I'm always surprised that my spelling of Kristine is as high as it is. :) I've only met 2 or 3 ever!
And thanks for sounding out your name; I knew a girl whose name was Alyssa but prounced it Uh-li-suh, and so when I see Alisa, I tend to associate it with the Alyssa way of prouncing! :)
Well, mine is #1! My first name is Mary. LOL!
Jeffrey is a girl's name and I have it....
My mother had this name chosen for a girl's name from the time she was first pregnant - I have 3 older brothers - She chose the name "Jeffrey" from an old movie star back in the day... Jeff Donnell...
Through the years it has proved to be funny, annoying and unique....
One story from Junior High - I'm standing in line to get my schedule changed from the "boys gym class" to a "girls gym class" and met a guy in the line right next to mine trying to do almost the same thing - his name was "Jan" -
As my mom tells people "She just loves her name"... and most of the time... I do.
Thanks!
