Golly gee...we've been back since last night but too busy to write until now. We had an awesome albeit freezing good time in Maine. Friday night I watched "Sweet Home Alabama" with Shelby and her friend perched on top of her very teenage bed in her lavender bedroom. She has started this really cool mural on the back of her door. Then I left them to their slumber party and went back to hang out with the grownups. On Sat. we waited for the temperature to get above zero before heading out. We rode about an hour and then stopped at a bowling alley bar for hot chocolate and chili (free for snowmobilers). It was yummy and made with the local nut brown ale. It was getting dark when we headed back. The sky was a sapphire blue and the full moon made the snow fields all shimmery. We zipped up the frozen river under trestle bridges towards home.
The next day it was minus ten degress when we got up. We decided to do a shorter version of our planned trip. After trailering the sleds up to Sugarloaf, we headed up the mountain. They have this cool little lodge run by the state where we stopped for hot cocoa and warmed by the fire. My toes and thumbs were completely numb by the time we got back to the cars. I had so much fun and can't wait to go back when it is warmer. We just ordered boots that should keep us warm to -100 degrees.
We picked the dogs up from the kennel this morning freshly shampooed. We also went by the store to pick up stuff along with everyone else in storm mode. I looked at Tom during checkout and was like "how come snow makes us buy all kinds of junk I would normally avoid"? (Which explains why we had mini chicken quesadillas for lunch.) It is snowing like crazy here now, which should be deja vu for all you East coasters. I still love snow after this winter and I say bring it on!

Hi, glad you're back and posting!! I was getting pretty despondent there for a while. Sounds like a fun trip, glad you didn't lose any of your fingers or toes to frostbite : )
We bought Tostitos and Nantucket cookies today, so I know exactly what you mean about getting stuff you wouldn't normally get just because it's snowing!
I'm glad you had such a good time! I loved snowmobiling! I miss it!
I am going to totally kick your ass if I find out that you came to Maine without visiting me...you had to drive RIGHT PAST MY HOUSE to get to Sugarloaf. Poop to you!!! And dont' forget...I'm just in Maine... :)
