Finishing this dish with lime zest and juice brightens its rich flavors.

The Woods Are Lovely

How do you end a perfectly crappy week? With a great weekend of course! I was already feeling better after reading all of the wonderful comments you guys left about my last post and thus having my outlook bouyed. I finished my movie day Sat. curled up in my robe watching The Good Girl. It was enthralling and I really liked it. Then I got dolled up for a dinner date in Boston. See pics here and here. It was a delicious meal with some super fun and supportive friends.
Today the weather was amazing, sunny and very little wind. I woke up to Dirk leaving a message afraid he had missed his chance to go hiking. We scooped him up and headed north to the White Mountains (see pics below). The woods were all snowy and beautiful as we followed the trail to the Flume Gorge. When we got there we were delighted to see ice climbers in action. After that we went to the Basin which is a smooth bowl with water rushing into (kinda like a giant toilet). Dirk had never seen the rest of the mountains, so we drove him all the way through. Then we stopped for dinner at the Yankee Smokehouse. Who doesn't love a place with a giant pig on the roof? I am so tired right now and my knees are killing me. But I will be falling asleep shortly with a big smile on my face.

I've never read your blog before today...when I read about you on Erika's site....

As a public school teacher in Maine who just found out about all the cuts in MA....I want you to know you're supported. You have done the children and the people of that area a great service...and even though our leaders are fuckwads with their heads up their asses....it does'nt mean that you've been anything but successful. I'm reading you from now on. You freakin rock.
