Finishing this dish with lime zest and juice brightens its rich flavors.

Cupid's Arrows

Happy Valentine's Day!!! No matter how you feel about it and I certainly don't mean to offend. The following are two poems I am giving to my husband inside his card.

(This one was the product of a word association exercise)

Sunshine

Celebrate sunrise if I wake next to you
Pillow still warm from your head
My lips still hot from your kisses
Better than chocolate, ice cream and candy.

Your touch takes me from springtime to summer in no time
Have to be reminded it’s winter by the frost on my window and the icicles beyond.
Your hugs my daily Valentine, give me comfort when I am lost.
Better than green grass between my toes or fresh picked flowers from the yard.

My heart an icy pond before I knew you
Before you really knew me
Now bubbles up and pours over
Touching everyone who’s near.

The second one.

Epiphany

Girlie fantasies of the perfect moment
When you know he’s the one
Always thought lightning would strike,
Angels would sing out
Oh it was so much quieter than that.
Slipping under my skin
Mingling with my blood
Until I could not see my future without you woven in the strands.
