So the weirdest thing about working part-time is being home at a reasonable hour. Now I actually have to think about cooking dinner more than twice a week. Don't get me wrong, I love it. It's just that I am married to an incredibly picky eater. Over the past few years I have figured out exactly what kind of meals will please both Tom & I. But sometimes I get tired of cooking entrees that can be assembled separately (ie. tacos, fajitas). Also I cook separate side dishes since I love veggies.
On the way home I called Tom to get a read on today's craving. There must be something in the air because he suggested waffles. I am all about breakfast for dinner because let's face it I am rarely up early enough to have it at the traditional time. I stopped to do some Valentine shopping and proceeded home. Then I got a phone call from an old friend with an update on the status of her very challenging 5 year old. When I finished the call I asked Tom if he wanted to start cooking. He replied that he no longer wanted waffles. Just bacon. Four strips of turkey bacon. I tried to convince him to have something else but this is familiar territory for us and I gave up. He then moved on to dessert, vanilla ice cream with three musketeer sauce. Which he put in the microwave "because it tastes better when it's soft." Ladies and gentlemen, I tell you now. I will never begin to figure this man out. Perhaps that is part of his allure. God help me when we have a houseful of miniature picky eaters. Ring dings for breakfast anyone?
