It's amazing how life has a way of evening out. I had a crappy commute but got a spot right in front of the building (never happens). Not only was Erika absent but the whole rest of the staff were at a training. Even though it was strangely quiet, I got a lot of stuff done. I finally broke down and walked to get lunch. It took forever for my order to be ready. But I walked back thinking about how much I like my life. I love how comfortable I feel in my job and that the deli guy knows me and asked about Erika. I love feeling connected to the community around me.
As soon as I got back to work the guys called on a break from training and asked me to meet them for lunch. I took my brown bag to meet them at the buffet place. They seemed happy to see me and I almost didn't mind when I opened my sandwich and discovered it was (not so hot any more) pastrami instead of egg salad. After watching them compete on how many plates they could eat we parted ways.

Took me the whole ride home to warm up. I just checked my email a little while ago and one of our kids emailed me a really beautiful poem. And it was about me. Sniff, I'm a sucker for when people appreciate me.
