Circles

At this point I should be PMSing but the past few days I have been bubbling over happy. Now I am not complaining or anything. Work has been really good and I feel renewed in our purpose to really connect with the teens. A lot of kids we haven't seen in a while have stopped by. Most are doing well, some are needing some help.
We had the first session of creative writing for the new quarter tonight. There were two new girls in the group. One who had attended many months ago and showed uo today out of the blue and six months pregnant. The other was a first timer. She was hesistant about reading but decided to share her poem last. I was really impressed with her writing. She has a rythmic style and a rhyme pattern that was almost lyrical. That is one of the best parts of the class. We get to discover each other's voices even as we are discovering our own. These kids have so much to say and so few opportunities to safely express themselves.
